Abilities Unlimited of the Carolina’s, Inc. (AUCarolinas) is the primary support organization in charge of meeting the funding needs of the Rollin’ Hornets. AUCarolinas, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed in June 2005 by three fathers of physically disabled children in the greater Charlotte area. AUCarolinas also provides wheelchair track & field, swimming, adaptive golf, and wheelchair softball in addition to wheelchair basketball programs.

The biggest challenge facing the Rollin’ Hornets is finding ways to fund its many travel and equipment expenses. Unlike able body basketball, finding wheelchair competitors requires traveling long distances. With a season that stretches from October to April and each of the three teams traveling to an average of six tournaments per season, funding travel can become a monumental task! An additional burden is the costs incurred by purchasing basketball wheelchairs that can reach upwards of $3,000!

Our goal is to raise more than $25,000!
